Popped in on the off chance, got a table for 4 adults and 2 children without too much issue. After a bit of wrestling with a table to extend it which was dealt with humour, we ended up in a private room. Staff were great especially with the children , service was quick. Only thing for not putting 5 stars was that everyone agreed the portion sizes were massive.

Malton has a reputation for being the food capital of Yorkshire and there are lots of eateries everywhere. The New Malton is well worth a visit. I can't compare it to all the others because I have not been there. Menu looked interesting on the website. And this was the case when we visited. Service was excellent. Decor is full of old charm and character. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable about what they serve. I shall go again sometime. Make sure you book.
