R Yates and Sons is one of my favourite department stores to visit, and it is over an hours drive for me. The choice of things to buy is mind bending from clothes, toys, farm gates, DIY supplies, electrical items, I could go on. You can even get your hair cut. It is well worth a visit and the town of Malton is lovely. Take a chance you won't be disappointed.

An incredible store and great staff, now stocks the amazing washaway paint brush and roller cleaner, ask for it, at only a few pounds I'm glad I did.#washawaypaint
Absolutely love this shop. You name it they've got it. Especially like the garden centre over the road, it's pricey but in an ideal location with ample parking and easy access. It also has a separate pet food store that is accessible down the side of The Cornmill building. Whilst it does have an accessible rear entrance for wheelchair users it isn't easy to manoeuvre around and you can't get upstairs to the bike shop or the clothing department downstairs.
I just moved into the area and I am delighted to find this fascinating shop. Warm and expert staff, incredible range of stock and well set out. I recommend it heartily. UPDATE Feb 2018 once again just received excellent service from Yates staff whilst purchasing my yearly 6X fertilizer for the garden. Many thanks.
