An extremely disappointing meal. My partner and I were hopeful of this restaurant given that it seems to be widely well reviewed. We couldn't disagree more. The food was flavourless and completely unauthentic. My girlfriend's pakora was soggy with no discernable seasoning. I had a shami kebab which mostly consisted of chickpea. It was more like falafel than a shami kebab. We were hoping that the mains would be better. My chicken shashlik was shashlik in name alone. Although the meat was tender it did not taste at all like chicken shashlik, also bizarrely being served with not only potatoes and mushrooms, (rather than the more traditional peppers and aubergine) it was served with a tasteless balti sauce which also contained not only potatoes but garden peas. My girlfriend had a potato and cauliflower curry that was equally as devoid of any flavour. The worst thing about the mains was how overly oily they were. A thick layer of oil sat on top of both the sauces, to the point that when you tried to dip the dry naan bread in all you got was oil. Even the rice was greasy. The poppadoms seemed stale, not crisp as they should be and the pickles they came with also devoid of any flavour. We don't like to complain but when the waitress asked if we wanted the food to go, as we had left most of it, we did say that we hadn't really liked it. The lady that served us was professional and understanding. The more senior staff not so much and seemed to think we were only after a discount. As soon as we clarified that we weren't, she took payment and stormed off.The decor was atmospheric, but there was no hot water in the toilets when I went to go and wash the grease off. We were offered a return visit for a discount but honestly won't be back.

Greasy and flavourless food, tasted worse than out of a jar, really disappointed. Made worse by senior staff assuming we were complaining for money off (which we never asked for and were quick to tell her we didn't want) which left us leaving feeling really uncomfortable. Wait staff were lovely however. Definitely avoid!

The menu was varied and the prices reasonable but the service was quite erratic :especially as the restaurant got more custom. It was very dimly lit one couple asked to be moved to somewhere lighter. The poppadoms were light but the pickle tray very limited these arrived without side plates which we had to request. Soft drinks were all bottles as was the Cobra and Tiger. The chef not the waiters delivered the main course but without serving spoons : again we had to ask for these . No complaints about the quality of the food at all. The naan breads are the size of whales one could satisfy 4 with ease. The hand cleansers were soaked in stone cold lemon water - a mistake which was cured once we asked for hot hand cleansers . So mixed feelings very nice food but poor service and an ambience that I feel would make some diners uncomfortable. Also at no point dd any waiter ask if everything was to our satisfaction! 3 stars are for the quality of the food . Not sure I will be returning in a hurry when there is a far superior Indian restaurant just around the corner.

Lovely food and very nice atmosphere
